A mother of three in Liberty County has won a half-million dollars playing the Georgia Lottery.

Monique Hendry of Allenhurst played the new instant game Right On The Money and won a $500,000 top prize.

She bought the ticket at Clyde’s Market at 1457 Dunlevie Road in Allenhurst.

“I just felt lucky,” the 29-year-old said. “I scratched it as I was walking out of the store. I was in a state of shock.”

A homemaker, Hendry and her husband, Carl, anticipate buying a new home and car with the winnings.

“I’m happy, but it hasn’t clicked in,” she said.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. estimates it has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state for education. Lottery profits are earmarked for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
