Art show, workshops in Darien

An art show and workshops at Darien’s Ashantilly Center the last two Saturdays of this month will feature a former Liberty County High School teacher.

Marjett Schille and her friend, Jeannine Cook, will stage the events April 22 and 29. A reception from 6 to 8 p.m. April 21 opens the show, Evoking Ashantilly: Paintings and Drawings by the two artists.

The workshop the first day will be by Cook, demonstrating plein air painting at 10:30 a.m. Participation in the Keep McIntosh Beautiful and Ashantilly Center’s Earth Day program at 1:20 p.m. will be encouraged.

Schille will lead the April 29 workshop on mixed media. That afternoon, at 1, Ashantilly director Harriet Langford will speak about Bill Haynes’ life and art.
