Voters will soon have a chance to meet the candidates in the upcoming May 24 general primary election.

The Liberty County Joint Political Forum Committee, with representatives from several organizations, is organizing a political forum where voters will have the chance to hear from candidates in contested races for Liberty County sheriff and chief magistrate, along with the open seat for Georgia Senate District 19, which includes a portion of Liberty County.

The forum is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. May 10 in the Liberty County Performing Arts Center, 2140 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Flemington. Questions for the candidates may be submitted in advance by email at forum@coastalcourier.com. Audience members may also submit written questions during the forum.

Candidates for chief magistrate will respond to questions, followed by those seeking the Senate seat and ending with the candidates for sheriff. Also, a person will speak, and answer questions, about the upcoming Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax renewal.

The Joint Political Forum Committee includes the Liberty County Branch of the NAACP and Coastal Courier.
For more information on the forum, call Graylan Quarterman at 912-980-6993 or Jason Wermers at 912-601-2016.
