The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is working to obtain community support for the family of Sgt. Stefan M. Smith as his remains will be escorted by the Patriot Guard to Carter Funeral Home in Hinesville on Friday, Aug. 2, between 10-11 a.m.

The chamber is requesting that people in the community line the streets on Highway 84 near the funeral home as the family arrives with his body. Ted Harris, a local veteran, will provide American flags for people to wave. Participants should not park at the funeral home to allow the family and escort to park there. There is parking available along Highway 84 to accommodate participants’ needs.

The viewing is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Carter Funeral Home. The funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at New Beginnings Church in Ludowici. Smith lived in Ludowici and is survived by his wife and three children.
