The Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission will host a community-planning meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Hinesville City Hall, 115 E. M.L. King Jr. Drive, in the council chambers.
The meeting will provide residents an opportunity to offer input regarding the future growth of the city and its neighborhoods. This meeting is the final meeting of a two-year long process to update the future land-use map for Liberty County.
The purpose of the community-planning meeting is to review recent development trends in the city and receive public input regarding future decision-making about land use, zoning and transportation. The input received from the meeting will be used to formulate the 2040 Liberty County Comprehensive Plan, a guide for the development of Liberty County and its communities for the next 25 years. The comprehensive plan will be used by city and county elected officials to make decisions on proposed land use developments, as well as transportation and infrastructure investments.
The Hinesville subarea comprises 17,743 acres, including small portions of unincorporated Liberty County. This area has been further divided into three sections: West, Mid and East. Meetings have been held in the West and Mid sections; the changes proposed at the previous meetings will be reflected on the current land-use map presented at the Jan. 25 meeting. Residents will be afforded the opportunity to review current land-use, zoning and environmental constraint maps to aid in the development of a proposed future land-use map. The meeting is open to the public, and public participation is encouraged.
