The Liberty County Board of Education has narrowed down its list to three candidates for interim superintendent, while the district starts the search for a new superintendent.
Dr. Franklin Perry, of Oxford, Ga., James Kimbro of Sylvester and Michael Lupo of Dahlonega are finalists for the interim position.
Current superintendent Dr. Valya S Lee’s contract has not been renewed. It ends June 30.
In search for a new superintendent the board has hired the services of the Georgia School Board Association again, which recommended Lee.
Community and board members were asked to provide feedback in a survey on the qualities and characteristics individuals would like to see in the next superintendent.
The board approved a job announcement put together by GSBA at a board meeting Tuesday.
There’s been no word yet on when the board will select the interim superintendent.
