Police are investigating allegations that former Coastal Courier General Manager Kathryn Fox stole more $33,000 from the newspaper, according to a Hinesville Police Department incident report.
Fox allegedly stole the money over a 10-month period from February to November 2017, the Morris Newspaper Corporation of Hinesville told police.
The company, which owns the paper, reported the theft to HPD on Jan. 16.
Fox, who has not been charged, has not responded to a request for comment.
She began working for the Courier in 1999 and was promoted to general manager in 2014.
Fox was placed on administrative leave in November. She was fired Dec. 7.
