The Liberty County school system’s former law firm is now representing the family of the child killed in a Dec. 5 school bus crash near Gum Branch.

Jones, Osteen and Jones of Hinesville is listed representing Cambria Shuman’s parents in court documents sent this week to the Liberty County School System. The firm submitted a letter to LCSS on Dec. 7 informing the school district its attorneys would no longer represent the district.

Earlier, LCSS Director of Maintenance and Operations Jason Rogers said the system was notified of a possible suit by Jonesboro-based law firm T. Madden and Associates, which is representing Evelyn Rodriguez, the driver of the school bus.

She was among those injured during the crash that killed Shuman. Rodriguez, 62 was driving a busload of students to the Liberty County Pre-K Center and Taylors Creek Elementary School when the bus went off Ray Road near its intersection with Highway 196 in the Gum Branch area. The bus crashed into a tree. The impact killed Shuman and injured two dozen other students.
