The Liberty County Sheriff's Office responded to a bomb threat made Tuesday night and repeated early Wednesday at the SNF Chemtall plant in Riceboro.

LCSO Major Dennis Davis said he was called out to the plant at  10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He said the gate employees at the facility had received a call saying three bombs were inside the facility.

“We searched the buildings out there,” Davis said adding he worked with supervisors and employees of the plant as they searched the facilities. “We came up with nothing.”

However Davis said they were called back out to the plant around 2 a.m. when employees came upon a suspicious package.

“We called the GBI bomb squad, but it was a hoax. There was nothing in it,” he said.

Davis said they are still actively investigating the matter. He added they are looking into leads as to who may have placed the call about the bombs.
