Ludowici election in court Wednesday

A request to force Ludowici to have municipal elections goes before a Long County Superior Court judge Wednesday.

Two residents are asking the city to hold elections to fill vacant seats on the council.

In August, Janis Goode and Price Chapman Jr. filed a writ of mandamus to force elections in the 3rd and 4th districts. According to their request, the 3rd District seat has been vacant since May, when former councilman Frank McClelland Jr. stepped down to run for sheriff, and the 4th District seat has been vacant since September, when Johnny Manning moved to Florida.

Goode said she believes Mayor James Fuller is delaying elections to have more control in the city. Fuller said he is acting on a county board of elections recommendation and that when city districts are correct elections will be held.
