The Walthourville Police Department and Liberty County Sheriffs Office are investigating the first deadly shooting of 2017.

According to Walthourville Police Chief, Bernie Quarterman, Allen Brandon Terry was shot around 1:30 a.m. Sunday while approaching a vehicle in Salters Mobile Home Park on Talmadge Road.  Quarterman said a person of interest is being questioned after calling authorities with information on the shooting.

Officers from the Walthourville police department found Terry laying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.  The officers administered first aid till emergency medical personnel arrived and took him to Liberty Regional Medical where he was pronounced dead.
