MLK Day Parade route, road closures announced

The Hinesville Downtown Development Authority has announced the route and road closures for the MLK Day parade, set for 10 a.m. Monday beginning at Bradwell Insitute.

The following is the outline of the tentative parade:

The parade will exit from Bradwell Institute onto General Screven Way and continue to West Hendry StreetTurn left onto West Hendry Street and continue to South Main StreetTurn left onto South Main Street and continue to Memorial DriveEnter the traffic circle and continue onto West Memorial Drive to Gause StreetTurn left onto Gause Street and continue back into the parking lot of Bradwell Institute, where parade ends

The following are tentative road closures. The times may vary depending on the parade’s actual departure time and also the speed at which the parade moves once underway:  

6 a.m. – Parking spaces along North Main Street will be coned off and vehicles will be cleared8:30 a.m. – Cones will be dropped in driveways and side roads along the parade route9: 45 a.m. – West Gen. Screven Way will be closed from Overman Street to West Hendry Street/EG Miles Parkway10:10 a.m. – West Hendry Street will be closed10:15 a.m. – Main Street will be closed from West Hendry Street to the Memorial Drive traffic circle10:25 a.m. – West Memorial Drive will be closed from the traffic circle to Gause Street10:30 a.m. – Gause Street will be closed from West Memorial Drive to West Court Street

The above streets will be reopened after the last parade elements have cleared the roadway.
