New Hinesville leadership sworn in

At noon Monday, Hinesville's City Council members and new mayor were sworn into office at City Hall in front of a council chambers packed with dignitaries, city workers, family members and friends. 

District 1 Councilwoman Diana Reid stated during her remarks that she and District 3 Councilwoman Vicky Nelson are the first African-American women to serve on the council. 

Mayor Allen Brown was sworn in for his second time as mayor of Hinesville, having previously served from 1992-99. He said he plans to work on lowering property taxes and get the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, or SPLOST, to pass this year.
