Relay for Life luminarias being offered to the public

Every year during the Relay for Life of Liberty County, the luminaria ceremony is a special part of the evening.

Occurring around 9 p.m., this ceremony gives everyone a moment of reflection in honor or memory of cancer patients.

The public is invited to participate by purchasing a luminaria in memory or in honor of a loved one, family member, neighbor or friend. These luminarias will be placed around the track where participants walk all evening and they will be lit during the ceremony to burn throughout the night.

The minimum contribution is $5 for a white bag and $25 for a gold bag. They can be ordered  online at www.relayforlife.org/libertyga or by contacting any team captain.

The Liberty County Relay for Life will start at 7 p.m. April 20 and run until April 21 at the recreation department football field on Highway 84.

Survivors who will kick off the relay are asked to be there by 6:30 p.m.

Any questions about the event can be emailed to tbaker@liberty.k12.ga.us.
