A 30-year-old Richmond Hill woman was killed Wednesday night in a vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 80 East near Prather Road, Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch said Thursday.
Futch said Ann L. Womble was driving a 2009 Kia sport-utility vehicle by herself eastbound on Highway 80 when the accident happened. She was killed on impact, but the vehicle was quickly consumed by a fire, he said.
A stretch of Highway 80 near the accident scene was closed for more than an hour afterward.
An autopsy had not been performed Thursday afternoon, but Futch said the death appears be accidental blunt-force trauma to the body as the result of a motor-vehicle accident.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck. A GSP spokeswoman said troopers were dispatched to the accident at 10:31 p.m. Wednesday, but no further information was available Thursday because reports were incomplete.
