A delegation from Hinesville’s sister city in China visited the area to explore economic, cultural and educational opportunities.

Yichun City in mainland China’s Jiangxi Province, entered into a sister-city agreement with Hinesville in 2008. The Chinese delegates, Hinesville officials and representatives of Armstrong State University met for an exchange ceremony Thursday evening at La Quinta Inn & Suites Hinesville-Fort Stewart and discussed ways to foster relations between the two cities.

“I think it’s important to build these relationships,” Hinesville Mayor Jim Thomas said. “In building relationships with the Chinese, they take a long time to nurture, a long time to come to fruition. But they are very valuable relationships that will stand the city in great stead for a long time.”
