Woman seriously injured in Walthourville accident

An accident Wednesday afternoon in Walthourville has left a woman seriously injured.

According to Walthourville Police Chief Bernie Quarterman, the accident occurred at the intersection of West Oglethorpe Highway and Talmadge Road in Walthourville. A woman driving a gray vehicle ran into the back of a trailer carrying heavy equipment.

The woman, who has not been identified, was airlifted by a medical helicopter to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

Quarterman said her condition is unknown but she was responsive at the scene.

The accident tied up traffic in the area for several hours
