Long Co. judge nominations accetped

The Judicial Nominating Commission for the State of Georgia, created by an executive order of Gov. Sonny Perdue, is accepting names to fill a vacancy on the State Court of Long County. The vacancy was created when Judge Richard D. Phillips died Feb. 25. Anyone nominated must be a resident of Long County at the time he or she takes the oath of office.
The public may submit nominations for the position and members of the bar may submit their own names or the names of others. Nominations should be submitted by March 9 to:

To each nominee, the commission will send a questionnaire to be returned on or before March 19. The commission will meet to interview applicants on March 29 at the State Bar of Georgia, 104 Marietta St., Atlanta. All applicants will be notified of the date and time of their interview.
The commission will select and recommend to the governor five potential appointees. The governor will make the final appointment.
