Long County man killed in car crash
OBIT Doolittle

The driver of an SUV was killed when his vehicle ran off Rye Patch Road in Long County and hit a tree shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Markus White.

The victim was identified as Jeffrey Doolittle, 49.
A graduate of Bradwell Institute, Doolittle worked as a custodian at Liberty County High School and was described in his obituary on page 3A as someone who “loved life, his animals and working on cars.”

Doolittle’s funeral is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
The passenger in the SUV, Tammy Gentry, 52, was flown by medical helicopter to Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah with what was described as injuries that were not life threatening. The accident is under investigation, White said, and no other information was available Tuesday.
