A Long County man was shot to death Sunday night in Long County.
According to information provided by the Long County Sheriff's Department, Kelvin Johnson was shot in the head and killed at #6 Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park about 10:30 p.m.
Chief Detective Ty Smith responded to the call and said when he arrived at the mobile home, witnesses claimed to have been at the home where the shooting took place.
According to one witness, he heard a gunshot go off and then Andre Steven Johnson, 22 (no relation to the victim) came into the room where the witness was laying on a sofa. At that point, the witness said that Johnson then shot at him and another witness; they fell to the floor, pretending to be dead.
According to Smith, the bullet missed the second witness entering the room and lodged in the floor.
Andre Johnson then left the mobile home and the witness called the sheriff's department.
Smith said the witness identified the alleged shooter, and Smith went to #20 Country Manor Trailer Park and arrested him at 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Smith said when he arrived on scene, he found the victim dead, and the witness stated that Johnson fired the shots with a handgun. Smith also said that the bullet in the floor had been retrieved and turned over to the GBI Crime Lab in Savannah.
Johnson is currently in custody at the LCSD, and has been charged with Murder/Felony Murder (Non-Family Gun).
At the request of the LCSD the witness was not identified in this story.
