Arson, insurance fraud charges stem from June 22 house fire

A Long County Sheriff's Office deputy was arrested yesterday for allegedly setting fire to his own home.

According to Ludowici Police Department Chief Richard Robertson, LCSO Deputy Robert Parker was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and charged with arson in the first degree, insurance fraud and violation of the oath of office. The charges stem from the June 22 blaze at Parker's three-story home. Robertson said all the charges are felony counts.
