A home on Connor Court in Hinesville was damaged in a fire Saturday night, displacing its homeowner and his dog.

A fire Saturday night has left a Hinesville man and his dog displaced.

The fire began shortly before 8:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Connor Court in Hinesville.

According to incident commander Fire Battalion Chief Jamie Woodard, the home owner said he plugged in a laptop and saw a spark.  A few minutes later, flames were visible behind a couch, which spread rapidly and caused damage to the home’s living room, the rear of the residence and the upper floor of the two-story home.

The homeowner got out of the house safely with his dog.
