A single vehicle accident shortly after 7 p.m. Monday on E.B. Cooper Highway in Liberty County claimed the life of a man.
Authorities did not immediately release his identity.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Marvin Frazier, the man was driving a 2006 Honda Civic and heading in the direction of Riceboro when he left the road and hit several trees. He was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel who arrived on scene shortly.
Members of the Walthourville Volunteer Fire and Rescue department had to extract the man from the vehicle. Frazier said the accident remains under investigation.
