Dr. Chanté Baker Martin, District 5 Board Representative for the Liberty County School System, has been selected to serve on the Georgia School Board Association’s Rural Task Force for fiscal year 2020.
The Rural Task Force is working to find ways to deal with the growing number of issues facing rural school districts, and has been tasked with finding innovative solutions to the challenges of dwindling student populations, increased poverty, a lack of economic development as well as other issues affecting education in Georgia.
This task force determines resources, best practices and new initiatives to support Georgia students, teachers and administrators. They will also explore policy implications and develop resources to better inform the General Assembly concerning their approach to rural education.
Dr. Chanté Baker Martin stated, “I am honored to represent Liberty County on this committee. Our unique position as an influential, rural community has the potential to make an important contribution to discussions concerning rural education.”
