3rd ID casaualty out of Benning

Friday, the Department of Defense announced the death of a Fort Benning soldier in Iraq.
Pfc. Joey T. Sams II, 22, of Spartanburg, S.C., died Wednesday at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, of injuries suffered when he was pinned between two vehicles. Sams was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. His death is under investigation.

Rahn completes basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Cameron C. Rahn graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Rahn is the son of Angel Smith of Midway and a 2017 graduate of Liberty County High School in Midway.
