3rd IDs Blackburn, Bentley get new assignments

The Army’s chief of staff announced Friday the new assignments for 3rd Infantry Division’s Brig. Gen. Christopher Bentley and Brig. Gen. James Blackburn Jr.

Bentley will be the new “deputy director for operations, National Joint Operations Intelligence Center, Operations Team-1, J-3, Joint Staff,” in Washington, according to the release. He is currently the deputy commanding general of support for the 3rd ID and serving in Afghanistan as the commander of Train Advise Assist Command-East, Resolute Support Mission, Joint Command, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, the release says.

Blackburn will be the new deputy commanding general of U.S. Army North, Fifth Army, at Joint Base San Antonio, the release says. He is currently the deputy commanding general of maneuver with the 3rd ID and the Task Force Marne commander.

There is no word yet on when they will officially leave for their new assignments or who will replace them.
