Soldiers from the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade deployed to Afghanistan this month in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel and the Resolute Support Mission, the Army announced Wednesday.
Approximately 50 Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment and the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment deployed to various bases in Afghanistan.
Their mission is to provide aviation support to U.S. Forces in Afghanistan. They are scheduled for a nine-month deployment.
The 3rd Infantry Division has more than 800 soldiers deployed worldwide and stands ready to support our Army which is engaged around the world, according to a news release from Fort Stewart.
