Controlled burns on Fort Stewart today

Fort Stewart Forestry Branch has two controlled burns set for Tuesday in training areas in the northwest part of the post:

 

• 386 acres 16 miles west of headquarters and five miles west of Taylors Creek tower. Flames will be visible from Highway 144 West.

 

• 300 acres 17.1 miles northwest of Building 1 and 6.4 miles northwest of Taylor Creek tower. Flames will not be visible from the highway.

 

Predicted winds are predicted to be blowing west at 6-10 mph.

Rahn completes basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Cameron C. Rahn graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Rahn is the son of Angel Smith of Midway and a 2017 graduate of Liberty County High School in Midway.
