Deputy commanders get new orders

On Wednesday, the Department of Defense released a list of Army generals who will soon receive new assignments. Two of the officers on the list are currently deployed to Iraq from Fort Stewart.
Brig. Gen. Patrick J. Donahue II, deputy commanding general (operations), 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized)/U.S. Division - North, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq, will be assigned to the position of director, concept development and learning at the Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command in Fort Monroe, Va.
Brig. Gen. Thomas S. Vandal, deputy commanding general (support), 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized)/U.S. Division - North, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq, will be assigned the position of commandant at the U.S. Army Field Artillery School, U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence in Fort Sill, Okla.

Rahn completes basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Cameron C. Rahn graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Rahn is the son of Angel Smith of Midway and a 2017 graduate of Liberty County High School in Midway.
