Members and guests of the Fort Stewart Enlisted Spouses’ Club recently gathered at the Desert Shield/Desert Storm Memorial in front of the Post Exchange to place a wreath to remember all military personnel who have lost their lives while serving our country.
President Cassie Allen introduced a member of the chaplin’s office who led the group in a short prayer of thanks for their lives and sacrifice. Maggie Roberts read the names of those whose names appear on the monument into the record as she has done since 1991.
The club makes sure they are remembered each year at Memorial Day and Veterans Day by continuing the ritual of laying the wreath and reading each name into the record.
