FORT BENNING — One of the Army's top generals based in Georgia is getting ready to retire.

A retirement ceremony for Brig. Gen. Rodney J. Barham is scheduled for Saturday morning at the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning.

Barham is the deputy commanding general who oversees reserve components for U.S. Army Forces Command, the largest command in the Army responsible for roughly 750,000 soldiers nationwide. Barham was based at Fort McPherson near Atlanta, which was also the home to Forces Command until it moved last year to Fort Bragg, N.C.

Barham served 33 years in the Army, including a stint as commander of the 49th Military Police Brigade during a deployment to Iraq. He became a deputy commander at Army Forces Command in January.
