Fort Stewart shores up security

In the wake of a gunman who took three soldiers hostage at Winn Army Community Hospital this past Monday, Fort Stewart has shored up its security.
“We have increased our random inspections at our gates,” said Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson. “We have increased law enforcement presence around the hospital to include random visits by patrols into our hospital emergency room.”

Rahn completes basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Cameron C. Rahn graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Rahn is the son of Angel Smith of Midway and a 2017 graduate of Liberty County High School in Midway.
