An active shooter exercise will be held on Fort Stewart sometime this week, public affairs officials announced in a news release Wednesday.
"The location and date of the exercise are not being disclosed at this time to ensure a robust and realistic training event for our Directorate of Emergency Services and other participating installation agencies," Fort Stewart spokesperson Kevin Larson said in an e-mail. "More information will be released to the public once the exercise is under way."
On the day of the exercise, visitors, employees and residents should expect traffic delays around the exercise location and at installation gates. The public may also hear simulated gunfire and see emergency vehicles responding and should not be alarmed.
Public affairs promised to release more information on the exercise through Marne TV, e-mail and the Fort Stewart website and Facebook page the day of the exercise.
Larson suggests residents check these sites frequently for updated information.
