Guard's air wing gets new commander

Lt. Col. Christopher D. Davis of Richmond Hill has taken command of the 165th Operations Support Flight, a unit of the 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard. 
The Savannah-based Airlift Wing flies the C-130H aircraft in which Davis is a pilot. 
Davis, as an active duty officer, has held numerous positions within the Wing. He has more than 100 combat sorties during rotations in the war zones of Iraq and Afghanistan. 
As commander, he oversees the training and operations of the 153 personnel assigned to the 165th Operations Support Group.
The 165th AW has served on numerous rotations during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Davis is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and received his commission through the Academy of Military Sciences in 1998.
He has more than 6,000 flying hours, including aircraft such as the C-130 H2 models. 
Davis resides in Richmond Hill with his wife, Amy, and two daughters, Bailey and Isabella. He is originally from Jesup.

Rahn completes basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Cameron C. Rahn graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Rahn is the son of Angel Smith of Midway and a 2017 graduate of Liberty County High School in Midway.
