Fort Stewart's Sgt. Ashley Randall on March 18 will accept a Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama on behalf of her grandfather, former 3rd ID Pvt. Demensio Rivera.
Rivera, a posthumous Medal of Honor recipient born in Puerto Rico in 1933, is being recognized for his courageous actions while serving as an automatic rifleman in Changyong-ni, Korea, on May 23, 1951.
The Medal of Honor is awarded to members of the Armed Forces who distinguishes themselves conspicuously by gallantry above and beyond the call of duty.
