Native is Air Force command's NCO of Year

For an the second year in a row, Tech. Sgt. Jeff Kelly was named the Air Force Reserve Command’s Public Affairs Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.
This award is given to the top enlisted member in the rank of staff sergeant to technical sergeant in the public affairs career field throughout the entire Air Force Reserve.
In his capacity as noncommissioned officer in charge of Public Affairs for the Reserve’s 315th Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., Kelly advises the wing on public affairs activities, and supervises and manages the public affairs enlisted staff and activities to include community relations, media relations and internal news programs.
 Kelly began his military career when he enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in 1995 as an aircrew life support technician.  He has deployed several times throughout his military career including missions to Bosnia and Iraq. In 2004, Kelly joined the public affairs office.
In addition to winning this award, Kelly was instrumental in the public affairs office being named the Air Force Reserve Command Media Relations Program of the Year.  He was selected to have lunch with President Barack Obama and has been honored with numerous other military awards and medals. He is currently pursuing his second master’s degree in public relations.
In his civilian life, Kelly is the media relations coordinator for Shands HealthCare in Gainesville, Fla.
Sergeant Kelly is the son of Mike and Elaine Kelly of Midway. His brother Michael and sister-in-law Sonya live in Savannah.
