Volunteer to help feed troops July 4

This July 4, the 3rd Infantry Division will host its annual Independence Day “Worth Fighting For” celebration. This year’s event will find most of the division back home at Fort Stewart. As part of the festivities, the Hinesville Military Affairs Committee is again coordinating the food court, which will be open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. HMAC plans to provide at least 13,000 free meals to division soldiers and their families.

In order to feed the large crowd, HMAC needs support. The group is inviting restaurants, businesses, civic groups, faith-based organization and community residents to participate in one or more of the following ways:

• Sponsor a food booth from which a minimum of 250 meals will be distributed

• Provide drinks or desserts

• Volunteer to work in the food court to help prepare and/or serve meals

• Provide tables, tents or grills
