Fred Mingledorff was honored recently with the Liberty District Scouting Committee's Good Scout Award.
"Mr. Mingledorff was a good choice because of all he has done for Scouting, the Hinesville community, as well as being a member of the first Cub Scout pack in Liberty County." said Mark Jarrard, district scout executive.
Dr. Glenn Carter presided over a breakfast meeting at which last year's recipient, Bill Goodwin, presented the award.
Jarrard said, "Scouting combines fun with educational activities and lifelong values. It also helps parents to help their boys strengthen character, develop good citizenship and enhance both mental and physical fitness.
"In addition, the program provides boys with positive peer groups and tools to shape their future. In Scouting, boys learn ideals like honesty, bravery and respect. These values help boys make constructive decisions throughout their lifetimes and give them the confidence they need to grow and develop.
"I'm sure Mr. Mingledorff would agree that the lessons he learned in Scouting have served him well in his career and in all other aspects of his life," Jarrard said.
