A school bus accident Friday morning left the bus disabled with no students injured.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Christopher Ashdown, the bus was traveling southbound on Groover Road in the unincorporated area of Liberty County around 6:30 a.m., when the driver, who had intended to turn onto Ray Road from Groover Road, slightly passed the intersection. The driver applied the brakes and attempted to steer the bus onto Ray Road. The bus skidded 53 feet on the dirt roadway and struck a tree, causing the front bumper to curl behind the tire disabling the vehicle.
Ashdown said there none of the nine students on the bus were injured. The students were placed onto another bus after being observed by medical personnel and transported to school.
The driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
