The oaths of office for several positions across the county were administered last week in the Liberty County Judicial Complex.

Probate Judge Nancy Aspinwall swore in many returning office holders and some new ones as well. Among the newest office holders were new State Court Judge Leonard Grinstead and new Tax Commissioner Jamie Sharp.

Also sworn in were State Court Solicitor Ches Merritt and new Liberty County District 4 Commissioner Timothy Blount. Blount was sworn in with returning Commissioners Gary Gilliard and Eddie Walden.

Michael McGirt, sworn in last year as chief magistrate, was sworn in again after winning election to the post. Coroner Reggie Pierce, Sheriff Will Bowman and county commission Chairman Donald Lovette also were sworn in for another term in office.

Judge Aspinwall also administered the oath of office to school board member Lavonia Lecounte and swore in deputy magistrates and deputy coroners during the ceremony in the jury assembly room.
