One person died and two others were injured in a two-car accident that happened Feb. 1 at 2:20 p.m.

According to Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Keith Kerrick, GSP Troopers responded to the scene of a two-car accident on Lee Place Road where it appears a car failed to maintain their lane and the vehicle going in the opposite direction of travel veered to avoid a head on wreck.

Kerrick said one of the vehicles, a Chevy Suburban, ended up sideswiping a white Dodge Ram pickup truck. The impact caused the truck to leave the roadway, flip over and land in a wet and wooded ditch.

One person, not yet identified, was killed and two others injured were transported to a local hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
