BRUNSWICK -- Officials at the Coastal Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources have set the 2008 commercial food shrimp cast net lottery for June 3.
To be eligible, individuals must make application in person at the CRD Regional Headquarters in Brunswick through June 2. The license office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Successful lottery license recipients will be notified via mail during the first week of June. Recipients must buy the license by July 1. The fee for a commercial food shrimp cast net license is $250 for residents ($2,500 for non-residents) plus the vessel license.
A controlled access system has been in effect since 1998, capping license sales at 200. The actual number of licenses available through the 2008 lottery will not be known until the license renewal deadline has passed.
Current food shrimp cast net license holders are reminded that they must renew their license by May 30, or the license expires.
For more information, call CRD's Doug Haymans at (912) 264-7218.
