The Richmond Hill Exchange Club will host its 18th annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 7, from 8:30 a.m.-noon, at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery on Highway 144.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. The derby is free and open to children ages 15 and under, accompanied by their parents or an adult guardian.
Over the past 17 years, thousands of children have participated, and the Exchange Club expects a large turnout again. The hatchery ponds have been stocked with catfish.
Participants should bring fishing poles equipped and ready to fish, as well as bait, although a limited amount of bait and fishing poles will be available. Georgia Masons will also be on hand offering their Child Identification Program free.
Awards for children 12 and under will be presented for several categories, including, first fish caught, most total pounds (limit of 10 fish), and heaviest fish. $50 savings bonds and/or trophies will be awarded for the various categories based on age, 7-12 and 6-under.
All children will also be eligible for doorprizes.
Parents or guardian should complete an entry form for each child and bring it to the derby. Entry forms can be downloaded from our website: www.coastalcourier.com
