Hughes finishes first at tourney

For the second time in a row, Richard Hughes took first place at the Liberty County Bass Club tournament Oct. 8 at Clarks Hill, launching out of the Fort Gordon Recreation Area.
Hughes caught five fish with a combined weight of 8.11 pounds.
Ron Welch earned second place with a catch of five weighing in at 7.41 pounds.
Walter Woodall placed third, catching three fish weighing in at 7.04 pounds. Woodall, however, earned the Big Fish Award after landing a 4.40-pound catch.
The local bass club’s next tournament is Nov. 5 in Hardeeville, S.C.
The Liberty County Bass Club is a group of local anglers from around Liberty County. Members are comprised of active/retired military and local citizens.
