Clover, the loggerhead sea turtle that hatched from a nest on Tybee Island’s north end in August, 2008, will be released Aug. 4 into the Atlantic Ocean. Marine science experts at the Burton 4-H Center have raised Clover from a hatchling to her current weight of more than 24 pounds.
The Burton 4-H Center welcomes everyone to the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion to join in the celebration of Clover’s release into the wild. Clover will be equipped with a state-of-the-art satellite transmitter, enabling her to be tracked throughout her journey on seaturtle.org. The free event begins at 1 p.m. at Tybee Island’s Pier and Pavilion on 16th street and the Strand.
