The Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division is considering changes to the ferry-fee structure for certain guests. A modest rate increase is being considered to address increased operational costs and maintaining fiduciary responsibilities.
A public meeting is scheduled to provide the public an opportunity to submit input for consideration in the development of proposed amendments to the Sapelo Island access and transportation rules, relating to fee schedules for paying guests (e.g., private tour participants, overnight guests, day-use visitors and private contractors) and department guests (e.g., Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve tours, Reynolds Mansion guests, wildlife-management area quota-hunt participants and Cabretta campground guests).
The public meeting will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 8 in the senior citizens center on Sapelo Island.  Interested people unable to attend the public meeting may submit input for consideration by mail, telephone or electronically.  The deadline for submitting input is Nov. 30. Written comments should be directed to: Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division, Game Management Section; 2070 U.S. Highway 278, SE; Social Circle, GA 30025; ATTN: John W. Bowers.
