Acclaimed photographer John Reed will present his End of Summer Nature Photography Workshop on Sept. 13-14 at Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge near Folkston.
The two-day workshop consists of classroom and hands-on exercises from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, and hands-on photography in the field from 7-11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14. Participants must provide their own cameras and any other photographic equipment they need. All photography-skill levels are welcome.    
The Saturday class will expand students’ basic knowledge and/or build on other sessions taken earlier this year. Participants will dig deeper into key photographic principles such as exposure, metering and composition. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
Sunday will consist of a full morning of field photography exploring the refuge, with Reed available to answer questions and offer tips and advice. The focus will be on photographing the plants, flowers and butterflies that may be seen in late September, as well as the ever-present alligators.
Cost for the two-day workshop is $50 if payment is received by Sept. 12. Cost to those interested only in the Sunday session is $25. Walk-ins will be welcome as space permits for an additional $5 fee. The workshop is sponsored in part by the Okefenokee Wildlife League, the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge and John Reed Photography.
