Wilderness Southeast, Sierra Club celebrate photo winners

SAVANNAH – Coastal Group Sierra Club and Wilderness Southeast announce the winners of the 2010 Coastal Photography Contest.

Judges selected winners from three categories and two classes — categories, wildlife, scenic and flora; human interaction; and classes, senior (over 18) and junior. All proceeds will be used equally for both environmental groups.

The grand prize went to Noel Wright for his wildlife portrait.

 

Winners in the senior class were:

First place — Cindy Wallace (human interaction), Doug Herrick (scenic), Dick Glover (wildlife)

Second place — Jing Gessler (human interaction), Charlie Ribbens (scenic), Dick Glover (wildlife).

Third place — Diane Booker (human interaction), Bob Paddison (scenic), J. Michael Walker (wildlife)

 

Winners in the junior class were:

First place — Kerry Davis (scenic), Ryan Kahn (scenic), Tamara Skye Phinizy (wildlife)

Second place — Tamara Skye Phinizy (human interaction), Meghan Robertson (human interaction), Kerry Davis (wildlife)

Third place — Kerry Davis (human interaction), Sage Hooten (scenic), Alli Corbit (wildlife)

Pictures were displayed at Meddin Studios Nov. 4 and 5 for judging and the winners are on display at The Jepson Center for the Arts, 207 W. York St. in Savannah, until Dec. 16.

Both clubs are sponsoring a reception with light hors d’oeuvres, drinks and door prizes on Thursday, Dec. 9, from 6-8 p.m.
