A Hinesville man was killed Saturday night after he was hit by a vehicle on E.G. Miles Parkway.

The man, identified by Liberty County Coroner Reginald Pierce Sr. as James Guest, 51, had left a restaurant at Hearn Road and E.G. Miles Parkway around 8 p.m. and tried to cross E.G. Miles when he was hit by a 66-year-old man driving a Saturn Ion, according to HPD Traffic Accident Investigator Richard Boucher.

Guest was taken by ambulance to Liberty Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead around 8:30 p.m.

No charges are pending against the driver, who Boucher said told police he tried to avoid hitting Guest, who appeared suddenly on the heavily traveled road.
