A second life was claimed as the result of a single-vehicle accident on Oct. 29, off Brights Lake Road outside of Flemington.
Stephen Austin Watrous died at the hospital a week from the day he reportedly lost control of his 2006 Miata. The passenger, Cleveland DePaul Pulliam of Midway, was pronounced dead after the two men were flown by Life Star to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper William Bowman, the wreck happened shortly after 11 p.m. Bowman reported the driver, Waltrous, 51, of Hinesville, was traveling East at a high rate of speed and apparently lost control.
Waltrous drove into a ditch, sending the vehicle airborne until it struck a tree. The vehicle flipped over two times and hit a culvert, ejecting the 23-year-old passenger. Waltrous was listed in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital. He died on Wednesday.
